The Daiwa 26 Tournament Basia Surf 45 SCW QD is designed for surfcasting anglers who consider casting distance, lightweight construction and winding power essential for demanding fishing situations. It represents the evolution of the Tournament Basia platform, developed by Daiwa to take Big Pit reel performance to an even higher level.
The new reel configuration features an enlarged spool and rotor, engineered to optimise casting behaviour and improve line control. The goal is to create a system capable of efficiently handling the extreme casting distances required by modern surfcasting while maintaining a high level of precision and control.
The key innovation is the AIRDRIVE rotor, introduced for the first time on a dedicated surfcasting reel. Its distinctive spherical-inspired geometry combines rigidity and low weight, reducing rotational inertia and delivering exceptionally smooth rotor start-up and rotation.
The ZAION construction of both body and rotor further contributes to weight reduction. This high-rigidity carbon-based composite developed by Daiwa offers an optimised balance between structural strength and low weight, improving overall reel balance and enhancing control during casting and retrieve.
The internal mechanics are also equipped with 11 bearings, two more than the previous generation. The increased number of bearings contributes to smoother rotation and enhances the precision of the system, making every turn of the handle more fluid and controlled.
The generational upgrade is also evident in winding power, which increases from 10 kg to 15 kg. This 50% increase provides greater authority during the retrieve, particularly when fishing with heavy leads or under demanding surfcasting conditions.
