The goal was not simply to reduce weight or update components, but to create rods with a more balanced, progressive and precise response throughout the different stages of lake trout fishing. From loading the blank during the cast to controlling the bombarda and managing the fish during the fight, each model has been retuned to provide a more controlled response across different lure weights and trout fishing techniques. The range also introduces two new 4.40 m models, developed for long-range fishing, large lakes and situations where additional leverage and line control are required. A slim but stable blank The Super Slim Blank features a particularly slim profile that contributes to easy handling and reduced bulk. The S.H.M.R. carbon construction, combined with next-generation resins, is designed to provide a balanced combination of weight, elasticity, strength and responsiveness. The structure is reinforced with Carbon Reinforcement, a dedicated carbon reinforcement designed to limit blank twisting during loading. This helps the rod remain stable during the cast and transfer power more accurately. This characteristic is particularly useful when fishing with bombarda, where the ability of the blank to load smoothly has a direct influence on casting control. Redesigned actions One of the main developments of the HYDRUS NGR series concerns its actions. Power distribution along the blank has been revised to create a more progressive and uniform bend. The rod therefore follows the different stages of fishing more naturally: loading during the cast, maintaining control during the retrieve and progressively engaging when the fish is hooked. The Action Color Code also allows anglers to identify the rod action quickly through its specific colored band, making it easier to select the appropriate model for the conditions. New 4.40 m long-range models The most significant addition to the range is represented by the two 4.40 m models. The increased length provides additional leverage and improved line management at distance, making these rods particularly useful when fishing bombarda over large areas or when the fish are holding well away from the bank. They are designed for situations such as: long-range bombarda fishing; large lakes; deeper water; situations requiring increased line control; wider rivers and waterways. These are therefore not simply longer versions, but rods developed to extend the range's capabilities into long-range fishing. Solid Carbon Tip for bite detection The Solid Carbon Tip sections are made from solid carbon and inserted into the blank before being glued and subsequently wrapped. This construction provides a continuous progressive bend through the sensitive tip section, while the solid carbon tip contributes to improved bite detection during the retrieve. In lake trout fishing, where fish behaviour can change according to technique and retrieve speed, having a sensitive and progressive tip is particularly useful. Components designed for extended sessions Ergonomics have also been considered to make the rod comfortable to use for extended periods. The Extra Slim Butt reduces the diameter of the handle, improving grip and helping reduce the perceived weight of the rod during fishing. Around the reel seat, the Sensi Touch Grip provides a ribbed rubberized surface designed to maintain a secure hold during long sessions.
