Daiwa 26 Tatula BF TW is a baitcasting reel specifically developed for Bait Finesse, where the ability to cast lightweight lures accurately and maintain precise control is essential.
Its dedicated spool configuration, T-WING SYSTEM (TWS) and magnetic braking system make it particularly well suited to lures that normally require specialized tackle. Micro jigs, small soft baits, no-sinker rigs and compact hard baits can all be handled with a combination of lightness, accuracy and control.
30 mm BF Spool
At the heart of the Bait Finesse setup is the dedicated 30 mm Super Duralumin BF spool, specifically designed for this Tatula configuration.
A spool designed for lightweight lures helps reduce rotational inertia, making it easier to start the spool spinning when casting relatively light presentations.
This makes the reel particularly suitable for techniques where the spool needs to respond quickly while maintaining a controlled casting trajectory.
TWS: smoother line release
The T-WING SYSTEM (TWS) improves line management during the cast.
As the spool rotates and releases line, the wide T-Wing opening reduces contact and friction compared with a conventional level wind. Combined with the 30 mm BF spool, this allows lightweight lures to make better use of the available casting energy, promoting smooth casts, low trajectories and accurate lure placement.
This combination is especially useful for Bait Finesse anglers who need to place small lures accurately around cover, structure and specific areas along the bank.
Braking System developed with K.T.F.
The braking system of the 26 Tatula BF TW was developed in cooperation with K.T.F. (Katsuhiko Sawamura), with an emphasis on straightforward and predictable spool control.
Once the magnetic brake has been correctly adjusted, the system is designed to accommodate different casting techniques without requiring constant readjustment.
This makes it easier to maintain consistent spool behaviour when changing lure types or adapting to different casting conditions.
AIRBREAK SYSTEM, SV BOOST and ZERO ADJUSTER
The spool-control system incorporates several Daiwa technologies:
- AIRBREAK SYSTEM, for spool control throughout the casting cycle;
- SV BOOST, designed to optimize braking behaviour during different stages of the cast;
- ZERO ADJUSTER, for adjusting the spool's axial play.
Together, these systems allow the angler to fine-tune the reel according to lure weight and casting style.
Hyperdrive Design
The HYPERDRIVE DESIGN combines several technologies focused on smoothness, rigidity and mechanical durability.
The HYPERDRIVE DIGIGEAR is designed to provide precise and smooth power transmission, while the HYPER TOUGH CLUTCH contributes to a positive and consistent spool-release mechanism.
The HYPER ARMED HOUSING FULL METAL, with an aluminium frame and gear-side side plate, provides a rigid platform for the internal mechanics. This becomes particularly valuable when a compact Bait Finesse reel encounters a fish considerably more powerful than its typical target species.
Drag Clicker
The Drag Clicker provides audible feedback when line is pulled from the spool under drag pressure.
This can be especially useful when fishing with thin lines, as the sound immediately indicates that the drag is working without requiring constant visual attention to the spool.
It is also an interesting feature when the Tatula BF TW is used to target larger fish with relatively light tackle.
UTD Drag
The Ultimate Tournament Drag (UTD) provides smooth and progressive drag pressure throughout the fight.
