Daiwa 26 Seaborg 500J is an electric reel designed for demanding fishing situations where power, speed and control are essential. At the same time, Daiwa has focused heavily on weight reduction and ergonomics, bringing the reel down to just 750 g.

Its compact body is designed for a more natural grip during long fishing sessions. The main control is the new aluminium JOG Power Lever, centrally positioned and operated with the thumb of the hand holding the rod. This allows the angler to change the retrieve speed without changing grip, which is particularly useful when alternating between continuous retrieve, pauses and changes in lure action.

JOG Power Lever

The new JOG control makes motor speed management much more immediate. The aluminium lever features a specially machined surface designed to provide a secure grip even with wet hands or when wearing gloves.

Thumb operation allows the angler to adjust motor speed while keeping the hand in the same position. This provides more precise control during line retrieval as well as when using electric jigging techniques, where speed variations are an important part of lure presentation.

MAGMAX-G MOTOR

The new MAGMAX-G Motor is at the heart of the Seaborg 500J. It uses neodymium magnets and has been developed to combine high torque, fast retrieve speeds and immediate response even under heavy load.

According to Daiwa's specifications, the new motor can offer up to four times the service life of the previous MAGMAX. This is particularly relevant for an electric reel designed for intensive use and powerful fish.

Maximum winding power is rated at 90 kg, while continuous winding speed reaches 165 m/min, measured with a 13 V power supply and a 1 kg load.

Designed for Jigging as well

The Seaborg 500J is not limited to conventional electric-reel applications. Its Jigging Mode provides three automatic programs designed for different jigging actions:

• One Pitch Jig
• One Pitch Pause
• Combination Jig

This significantly broadens the reel's range of applications, making it suitable for modern electric jigging and various vertical fishing situations.

TOUGH MEGA MONSTER

The TOUGH MEGA MONSTER concept reflects the Seaborg 500J's focus on demanding fishing applications.

Its high power reserve is designed to handle situations where substantial retrieve power is required, while still providing precise control during more delicate phases of the fight.

The reel can be used for offshore fishing and drifting, live-bait tuna fishing, deep-water bottom fishing, large squid, amberjack, other large pelagic species, slow jigging and electric jigging.

Line management and control

The Seaborg 500J features the SYNCHRO LEVEL WIND SYSTEM, designed to guide the line evenly onto the spool during retrieval.

The Fall Brake Dial allows the angler to control the descent speed of the line and lure, which is particularly useful for vertical fishing and techniques where precise control during the drop is important.

The enlarged Level Wind also facilitates the passage of large-diameter knots and leaders, making the reel suitable for heavy-duty configurations targeting powerful fish.

Construction and technology

Power transmission is handled by the HYPERDRIVE DIGIGEAR system, designed to maintain smooth rotation and efficient power transfer when the gears are subjected to high loads.

The MAGSEALED Ball Bearing helps protect the internal mechanism, while the ATD (Automatic Tournament Drag) system provides progressive drag performance during powerful runs.

The reel is equipped with 16 ball bearings, an LCD Dot Matrix display, Depth Alarm and an Italian-language menu and interface.

Power Supply

The Daiwa 26 Seaborg 500J must only be powered using 12-16.8 V DC.

It must not be connected to incompatible power sources such as 100 V AC domestic power or 24 V onboard systems. Using an incorrect voltage may affect reel operation and activate the electronic protection systems.

To take full advantage of the MAGMAX-G Motor, Daiwa recommends using dedicated batteries designed for electric fishing reels.
